Explain your overall concept and how the cover might attract specific viewers.
My overall concept was to make the book cover have a treasure map theme because the book is about a boy who tries to find answers from his dead father. This will attract readers who like mysteries and suspenseful books because this whole book is basically a mystery and trying to find the answers which is shown in my book cover
What is the main focus in your design? How were you able to create this?
My main focus in design was to make the book look like hand made map since the main character's father is the one who created the map the the boy has to follow. I try to make it look like an old map by changing the color of it to make it brown and ancient looking. I also made the directions on the map handwritten to show the realism of the father actually drawing the map for his son.
Does your font type, font size, and font colors relate to the short story or compliment your design?
I tried to use more "serious" and mysterious looking font by making sure whatever font i used did not look playful. I also made certain letters smaller as if almost trying to hide them to relate to the fact that the boy has to look at even the small thins to find the answer. The font colors are also a grayish color to represent the overall suspense in the book.
How does the back cover relate to the short story? Are there characteristics of the front cover that carry over to the back cover?
The back cover still has the theme of the front cover with the old treasure map paper. It also has the same font style and color because I wanted it to be consistent with the front of the book. The back cover stays with the theme of the front cover which portrays the whole idea of the story.
