Explain your overall concept and how the cover might attract specific viewers.
My overall concept was to make the book cover have a treasure map theme because the book is about a boy who tries to find answers from his dead father. This will attract readers who like mysteries and suspenseful books because this whole book is basically a mystery and trying to find the answers which is shown in my book cover

What is the main focus in your design?  How were you able to create this?
My main focus in design was to make the book look like hand made map since the main character's father is the one who created the map the the boy has to follow. I try to make it look like an old map by changing the color of it to make it brown and ancient looking. I also made the directions on the map handwritten to show the realism of the father actually drawing the map for his son.

Does your font type, font size, and font colors relate to the short story or compliment your design?
I tried to use more "serious" and mysterious looking font by making sure whatever font i used did not look playful. I also made certain letters smaller as if almost trying to hide them to relate to the fact that the boy has to look at even the small thins to find the answer. The font colors are also a grayish color to represent the overall suspense in the book.

How does the back cover relate to the short story? Are there characteristics of the front cover that carry over to the back cover?
The back cover still has the theme of the front cover with the old treasure map paper. It also has the same font style and color because I wanted it to be consistent with the front of the book. The back cover  stays with the theme of the front cover which portrays the whole idea of the story.

My Doodle 4 Google Design Process

I started off by thinking of a theme that I wanted to show in my drawing and I came up with the beach theme and another theme of sky diving. I drew two rough sketches of both while incorporating the google letters into my designs and decided to choose the beach theme. I wanted a sunset, water, and sand for my beach theme and I also wanted to show something fun which is why I had some of the google letters playing ball. I wanted the letters to be laid out in full alignment with the letter going across the whole page.

5 Book Covers

I was drawn to this book cover because of the image that is used. I feel like the way the old lady is placed and how she looks is what drew me in. I believe it really portrays the title of being tired.

I like the way the day and sunset are mirroring each other because they are two different concepts yet they are put together in one image. The text is left aligned but is put near center as well.
I was drawn to this book cover because it seemed creepy with the floating hands and the no facial features. I liked the contrast between  the black and white and how the red is added to it which makes it stand out.
I was drawn to this book cover because of the blurry effect of the skeleton. It's almost like they're trying to hide the fact that it is a skeleton which i find interesting. I also see a repetition of white, and brown dots.
I was drawn to this image because of the illusion of the black lines and how it is constantly repeating. It is interesting to look at and I think it literally pulls you into this deep whole of black lines.

I feel like all these book covers are different in their ideas but they all express something that represents their titles. For example the first book cover shows a tired women and the title talks about being tired. Another example is the third book cover with the weird women and in the title it says dark which represents the pictures.

Book Cover Review

I believe that this book cover captures the storyline of this story because this book focuses on the inferiority of women in Afghan society and how they are constantly wearing burqas which represents their oppression. The book cover shows a woman wearing a burqa looking over her city which is how women in that society feel. They are disclosed from the world and just have to look on as life goes on.

Logo Reflection

1. This logo represents the club because the cooking club is somewhere where  students to have fun and I think the that by having comic sans ms as the font type and having the letters drop into the pot showed something fun and exciting which is what the cooking club is about.
2. I think the thumbnail sketches was the most helpful because I was able to put out a range of different ideas and I was able to combine some of my different sketches and use them in my final logo.
3. The most challenging part of this project was using gimp to create my logo. The aspect of gimp that was the hardest was using the mask tool to color in certain things like the pot and bag.
4. I think my final design is okay. It took a lot for me to finally complete it so I was was ecstatic when i was finally done but i think i could've came up with a better design but I'm just glad i finished it.
